Questions
How do I extract audio from a video?
Choose a video or drop it on the box above, then tap Download M4A. The page copies the video's sound track into its own file without re-encoding it, so you get the exact audio the video carried. Tap Download MP3 instead if the app you use does not open M4A files.
How do I extract audio from a video on iPhone?
Open this page in Safari, tap Choose a video and pick the clip from Photo Library (or Choose File for the Files app). Tap Download M4A and confirm the download: the sound is saved in Files › Downloads, from where you can share it to any app. It needs iOS 16.4 or later. Without a website, the Shortcuts app's Encode Media action with Audio Only turned on does the same job.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The video is read and converted by your browser on your own device. There is no upload step and no server copy, which is also why large videos work: nothing has to travel over your connection.
Should I download M4A or MP3?
M4A is the original sound, copied bit for bit, so there is no quality loss and the file is small; iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows play it. MP3 is re-encoded at 192 kbps, which costs a little quality but opens in every old player, car stereo and audio editor.
Which video formats work?
MP4, MOV (including iPhone videos), M4V and WebM. Most phone videos carry AAC sound, which is saved as .m4a. A WebM video's Opus or Vorbis sound is saved as .ogg, and FLAC or PCM sound as .flac or .wav, so the sound is never re-encoded. Download MP3 works for any sound your browser can play.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no upload, so there is no upload limit. Copying the sound to M4A handles long videos easily. Making an MP3 decodes the whole sound in memory first, so a video over an hour long can be too much for a phone; use M4A for those.
Can I extract audio from a TikTok or YouTube link?
No. This tool only works with video files you already have on your device, and it never downloads anything from other sites. Only use sound you have the right to use; when you post, the safest choice is to add the trending sound inside TikTok, Reels or Shorts.
